Household names
Freeths is rated a ‘top-tier firm’ in 19 practice areas by the Legal 500 Directory, working with clients from household names companies to local businesses and charitable organisations.
The services provided by the firm’s Employment Department are wide ranging, as Matt explains: “We draft and advise on employment contracts, policies, procedures and handbooks and give day-to-day advice on things like staff capability, disciplinary and grievance issues – all to ensure that clients are compliant with complex legislationand can concentrate on growing their businesses rather than becoming distracted by personnel issues. We also negotiate settlement packages, advise on redundancy exercises and the employment aspects of buying or selling a business.”
Matt on networking…
“Through club member Jennie Self we have worked with Trafford Carers Centre to develop their Carer Friendly Policy. It’s a comprehensive guide for companies to use when employing people who care for a relative or dependant outside work. Many companies have some employees who are also carers, but very few are actually aware of their obligations to those carers: allowing flexible working, for example, or providing time off in emergencies.
We then offer participating companies a free review of their employment contracts and procedures, with a view to building an on-going relationship between Freeths’ Employment team and the organisations.
In addition we have also provided introductions (and received them in return) for club members including insurance broker Steve Allen, Accountant Chris Wrighton, Business Coach Andy Key and IFA Fintan Gannon.”
